(Hartford) - On Friday, January 25, 2008, at 2:48 am Hartford Police, Fire and EMS personnel responded to Garden Street just south of Ashley Street on a report of a motor vehicle crash with injuries.  Upon arrival responding officers found a 1994 Chrysler LeBaron had left the roadway, struck a light pole and came to rest after contacting a tree off the west sidewalk of Garden Street.  The vehicle was on fire when units arrived.  The Hartford Fire Department extinguished the fire and EMS personnel attempted to render aid to the two occupants of the vehicle.  Both the driver and front seat passenger were presumed dead on scene.  Hartford Police Crime Scene Division responded and assumed responsibility of the investigation.   

The driver of the car was later identified as Afran Prevalla, 22 years old, of Farmington.  The passenger has not been identified at this time.  The investigation is continuing and anyone with information regarding the crash or the identity of the passenger is asked to contact Detective Michael Chauvin or Sergeant Jason Thody at 860-757-4220.
