CRIME SOLVERS TIPLINE: 860-527-TIPS NEWS RELEASE HARTFORD POLICE MAKE ARREST IN EFRAIN NAZARIO HOMICIDE
At approximately 6:15 a.m., on January 13, 2008, Hartford Police responded to a report of a party shot at Julius Street and New Britain Avenue, Hartford. When they arrived they discovered Nazario lying in front of 87 New Britain Avenue with gunshot wounds to his abdomen and buttock. Nazario was immediately transported to Hartford Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries at approximately 11:10 a.m. The Hartford Police Department’s Major Crimes and Crime Scene Divisions responded and began an immediate investigation led by HPD Major Crimes Detective Dan Mui. Efrain Nazario’s death was ruled a homicide by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. Detective Mui secured an arrest warrant for Travis Dailey charging him with Nazario's murder on January 18, 2008. With the knowledge that Travis Dailey was on Federal Probation, Detective Mui informed United States Marshalls that Dailey was wanted by Hartford Police. Subsequently, on Wednesday, January 23, 2008, Dailey was taken into custody by United States Marshalls when he arrived for his regular scheduled appointment with his Federal Probation Officer. Daily remains in custody on $1 million bond pending arraignment in Hartford Superior Court. Travis Dailey was arrested and convicted of Conspiracy to commit Murder in 1997 for the 1994 murder of Marciano Rivera. Dailey was sentenced to 10 years in prison on that conviction, served 5 years and was then released. In 2008, the Hartford Police Department's Major Crimes Division has investigated three homicides and all three cases have resulted in the arrest and/or issuance of an arrest warrant for the accused.
