REWARD OFFERED IN COLD CASE INVESTIGATION OF THE
2005 MURDER OF EDWARD BELL OF HARTFORD

(Hartford) - Hartford Police Chief Daryl K. Roberts announced today an award of $50,000.00 had been approved by Governor M. Jodi Rell for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the death of Edward Bell.

On May 6, 2005, Mr. Bell was found by Hartford Police lying in the roadway in front of 110 George Street, Hartford, suffering from a gunshot would to the chest.  He subsequently died from his injuries.

As investigative leads to the Hartford Police Department had deteriorated, the investigation was recently referred to and re-opened by the Cold Case Unit of the Chief State's Attorney's Office.  Governor Rell approved the reward on March 27, 2008, in response to a request on March 10th by Hartford State's Attorney Gail P. Hardy.

Edward Bell, Jr. - Hartford - May 6, 2005

Edward "Little Man" Bell, Jr., was shot to death on George Street in Hartford on May 6, 2005.On May 6, 2005, at approximately 11:20 p.m., Hartford Police responded to the area of 110 George Street on reports of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers located the victim, Edward “Little Man” Bell, Jr., and physical evidence.

Hartford Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel transported the victim to Hartford Hospital.  Mr. Bell, age 34, was pronounced dead at the hospital as a result of gunshot wounds. 

The case is being investigated jointly by the Hartford Police Department and the Cold Case Unit of the Chief State's Attorney's Office.
