ARREST MADE IN
VERNON STREET STABBING

(Hartford) - Officers of the Hartford Police Department's Patrol Division have arrested Willie James Coleman, DOB 9/3/1953, of 18 Vernon Street, Apartment B-6, charging him with criminal attempt to commit murder and assault in the first degree in connection with July 8th stabbing of a 44 year old female.

On July 8th, at approximately 5:30 p.m., police responded to a report of a domestic related stabbing at 18 Vernon Street.  On arrival, officers located the victim, Twonna White, of that address, suffering from stab wounds to her chest. Ms. White was immediately transported to Hartford Hospital where she remains in extremely critical condition. 

Coleman, in the apartment at the time police arrived, stated he had stabbed the victim.  Coleman was taken into custody without incident where he remains on $550,000 bond pending arraignment in Hartford Superior Court.
