860-527-TIPS NEWS RELEASE HARTFORD POLICE CONTINUE INVESTIGATION INTO THREE HOMICIDES (Hartford) - Detectives of the Hartford Police Department's Major Crimes Division are continuing their investigation into three homicides that occurred this past weekend. In two of the investigations they have confirmed the identity of the victims as Johan Rosa, DOB 3/10/1980, of New Britain, and Jakeem Jaquan Tullly, 8/11/1992, of Hartford. Police officials are continuing efforts to positively identify the third homicide victim. On July 19th, 2008 at approximately 4:45 a.m., police responded to a report of shots fired at 195 Affleck Street. Upon arrival officers located the victim, Johan Rosa, near the first floor rear door. Medical personnel transported him to Hartford Hospital where he was pronounced deceased at 5:34 a.m. On July 20th, 2008 at approximately 2:10 a.m., Hartford Police were contacted by St. Francis Hospital on a report of a person arriving at the hospital by private vehicle who had been shot. Two individuals were located by police who indicated they drove the victim to the hospital from the 24 hour Super Deli-Market located at 485 Albany Avenue. The victim, identified as Jakeem Jaquan Tully, 8/11/1992, of Green Street, Hartford, was pronounced deceased at 2:42 a.m. Also on July 20th, 2008, at approximately 12:25 p.m., officers responded to a report of a deceased person on the third floor at 67 Mansfield Street. The male victim, not yet identified by police, was found dead in a third floor bedroom. Based on the condition of the body and the scene, police are investigation the incident as a homicide. In commenting on the recent homicides, Hartford Police Chief Daryl K. Roberts said, "We will not rest until we get guns out of the hands of these violent and reckless individuals who resort to gun violence to resolve disputes. Year to date we have seized 222 guns and made 119 firearm related arrests. Our teams of detectives and patrol officers, with their federal and state partners, will route out these violent individuals and they will be brought to justice."
