CRIME SOLVERS TIPLINE: 860-527-TIPS NEWS RELEASE HARTFORD POLICE MAKE ARREST IN ASSAULT OF TRINITY COLLEGE STUDENT
On May 5, 2008, at approximately 9:40 p.m., police responded to a report of an assault and shooting at 105-111 Sherbrooke Avenue, Hartford. On arrival officers located the victim suffering from a gunshot wound and a serious assault; he was immediately transported to an area hospital for treatment. The HPD's Major Crimes Division assumed the investigation and on May 9, 2008 released a surveillance video captured from the lobby camera at 105-111 Sherbrooke Avenue of a possible witness and the victim in the vestibule prior to the assault and shooting. Vega was taken into custody without incident by detectives of the Major Crimes Division on July 13, 2008, at his residence in Bristol, Connecticut. He remains in custody on assault first degree, robbery first degree, unlawful disscharge of a firearm, and reckless endangerment, on a $250,000 bond. Detectives continue to identify another Hispanic male, believed to be his accomplice, and the woman pictured in the video released by Hartford Police on May 9th that can be viewed below.
