ARREST MADE IN 2007 COLD CASE
HOMICIDE.
(Hartford) -
Detectives
of the Hartford Police Department's Major Crimes Division and the
State of
Connecticut Chief State's Attorney's Office Cold Case Unit, have made an
arrest in the November 10, 2007, shooting death of Efrain Rodriguez, DOB
2/3/77, of Meadow Ridge Road, Avon. The arrestee, a juvenile, age 17,
was 16 at the time of the shooting, was charged on August 1st, 2008 by
police with murder, carrying a pistol without a permit, and assault in the
first degree.. He remains in custody on a $2 million bond.
At approximately 1:45 a.m. on
November 10th, Hartford police officers on patrol in the area of 1995 Park
Street heard several gun shots coming from the MiBar restaurant.
Officers located a 19 year old male lying on the sidewalk suffering from a
single gunshot wound to the leg. He was transported to Hartford
Hospital for treatment of a non-life threatening injury. A second
male, Efrain Rodriguez, was discovered in the parking lot suffering from a
gun shot wound to the chest. Rodriguez was transported to St. Francis
Hospital and was pronounced dead at 2:04 a.m.
In
commenting on the arrest, Hartford Police Chief Daryl K. Roberts said, "I
want the families of victims to know that the Hartford Police Department
will never give up in its effort to bring criminals to justice, and they and
their loved ones will never be forgotten."

in the Office of the Chief State’s Attorney was established in 1998
to investigate homicides and other serious crimes that have gone
unsolved for an extended period of time. It currently includes
Inspectors from the Office of the Chief State’s Attorney, the State
of Connecticut Department of Corrections, Bloomfield Police
Department, Farmington Police Department, Hartford Police
Department, Wethersfield Police Department and Windsor Police
Department.
