Hartford Police Release Video of Robbery;
Seeking Public's Assistance in Identifying Suspect.


(Hartford) -
 Do you recognize this man?  This is the questions detectives of the Hartford Police Department's Major Crimes Division is asking of the public in a video, released today, of a robbery of the Mercury Mini Mart that occurred on September 1st, 2008.

The suspect, described as a White male, 40-50 years old, 6 feet tall, thin build with salt and pepper hair, entered the Mercury Mini Mart, located at 888 New Britain Avenue, at approximately 6:20 p.m. on September 1st, vaulted the counter and attempted to take cash out of the register.  The clerk repeatedly closed the drawer on the suspect's hand in an attempt to foil the robbery.  Last seen wearing a gray shirt and black jeans, he  fled the scene with little or no money, in a red GMC Jimmy.

The store clerk was unharmed and no weapon was seen or implied.  Police believe he may be responsible for other area robberies.
