CRIMES (274637) enter TIP716 and message NEWS RELEASE HPD Girls Soccer League to Play First Games of Fall Soccer Season
In it's fifth season, the soccer league, made up of 65 third and fourth grade girls between the ages of 8-10 from Milner and Naylor Schools in Hartford, is comprised of four teams: The Pink Panthers; The Red Flames; The Blue Ice and The Green Thunder. Organized by Hartford Police Lieutenant William Schwarz with the support of ten Hartford police officers and one civilian employee serving as coaches and assistants, the league is funded through grants from the Connecticut Juvenile Justice Education Center, City of Hartford, and the U.S. Department of Justice's Hartford Weed and Seed Program. The media and public are invited to this afternoon's soccer games scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. and concluded at approximately 5:15 p.m. Below is a photo of the 2008 Spring Girls Soccer Team at Police Headquarters with Hartford Police Chief Daryl K.
