Hartford Police Arrest Two in Connection With Carjacking

(Hartford) -  Officers of the Hartford Police Department's Patrol Division have arrested two in connection with a carjacking on December 13, 2008.  Charged with robbery 2nd, larceny 1st, carjacking, use of a motor vehilce without the owner's permission, possession of narcotics and possession of narcotics with intent to sell is Rakent Bunkley, DOB 3/7/1989, of 131 South Street, Hartford.  A minor was also  charged by police in connection with the incident.

On December 13th Hartford police responded to the area of Edgewood and Greenfield Streets on a report of a carjacking with a firearm.  On arrival the complainant stated that three males armed with a firearm stole his vehicle.  The stolen vehicle, a 2004 gray Infinity, was observed by other HPD units traveling north on Edgewood Street.  As officers attempted a motor vehicle stop the vehicle fled, striking a curb at the intersection of Ridgefield and Pembroke Street where it became disabled.  After a short foot pursuit the two occupants were apprehended; both were in possession of narcotics, however the firearm was not located. 

Bunkley remains in custody on $200,000 pending arraignment in Hartford Superior Court.
