POLICE DEPARTMENT NEWS RELEASE GUN BUY BACK A SUCCESS
Hartford – On December 5, 2009 the Hartford Police Department in conjunction
with Hartford Hospital, Saint Francis Hospital, Connecticut Children’s
Medical Center and the Community Renewal team conducted a As a result of the program, 78 firearms and numerous rounds of ammunition and gun magazines were safely relinquished to the Hartford Police Department. All firearms and ammunition were brought to the Hartford Police Department. All recovered firearms will be destroyed unless forensic testing confirms they have been used in the commission of a crime. In commenting about the incident, Hartford Police Chief Daryl K. Roberts stated: “This is a great community program that provided an opportunity for people to dispose of unwanted firearms in a safe manner. I would like to commend Hartford Hospital, Saint Francis Hospital, Connecticut Children’s Medical Center and the Community Renewal Team for stepping up as community leaders and partnering with the Hartford Police Department to help make our community safer. It is all about Service - Relationships – Safety.”
