HARTFORD POLICE RELEASE VIDEO OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT;
SEEKS PUBLIC ASSISTANCE IN IDENTIFYING SUSPECT

Hartford - Detectives of the Hartford Police Department's Major Crimes Division has secured a surveillance video of a shooting and attempted robbery that occurred on February 4th, 2009 and is releasing it to the public seeking its assistance in identifying the suspect.  View video of La Caribena Grocery Store Attempted Robbery.

At approximately 8:20 a.m. on February 4th the suspect, described as a Black male, 5'5", 16 years of age, 135 lbs, with a medium complexion, black knit hat and a black hooded sweatshirt, entered the La Caribena Grocery located at 175 Nelson Street.  The suspect approached the store clerk, asked for cigarettes, and when the clerk turned back toward the suspect he displayed a silver handgun and fired one shot striking the victim in the jaw area.  After a failed attempt to get behind the counter the suspect fled the scene.  The victim, following treatment at an area hospital, survived the injury. 

Anyone with information as to the identity of this suspect, his whereabouts is asked to contact Hartford Crime Stoppers.   The video can also be viewed on YouTube.
