Homicide Victim Identified as James Evans of Hartford

Hartford - Hartford Police Chief Daryl K. Roberts today confirmed the identity of yesterday's homicide victim as James Evans, 21, of 52 Congress Street, Hartford.

At approximately 6:45 p.m., on Tuesday, February 17, 2009, Hartford police officers responded to a report of a party shot in the area of 38 Congress Street.  On arrival they located the victim, James Evans, lying in front of 38 Congress  Street.  He was suffering from multiple guns shot wounds and was transported to Hartford Hospital where he was pronounced deceased at 7:10 p.m.

In commenting on the incident, Hartford Police Chief Daryl K. Roberts said, "This type of incident is unusual to the Congress Street area, a quiet, residential neighborhood.  Many individuals in the neighborhood have come forward to assist us in this investigation.  I wish to thank those individuals and encourage others who may have information that could be useful to us in solving this crime to contact Hartford Crime Stoppers at 860-722-TIPS (8477)."
