Hartford Police Make
Arrest in Connection with Hartford – Police have arrested a suspect in connection with a December 1, 2008 shooting that occurred at 51 Whitmore Street. Following a lengthy investigation, detectives of the Hartford Police Major Crimes Division obtained an arrest warrant charging Barrett Ricketts (08/09/81), of 40 Vineland Terrace, Hartford with criminal8attempt to commit murder, assault 1st degree, assault second degree with a firearm, and criminal in possession of a firearm. The warrant was served on Ricketts yesterday at 101 Lafayette Street, without incident. A $1,000,000 bond was ordered. At approximately 3:25 p.m. on December 1, 2008, a dispute escalated in front of 51 Whitmore Street, between Rickets, a 26 year old female victim and a third unidentified suspect. During the dispute, Rickets produced a silver pistol and began to pistol whip the female victim. He then fired two shots, striking the female victim once in her back. The second unidentified suspect also displayed a silver pistol and was involved in the dispute. Ricketts and the unidentified suspect fled the scene. The female victim was treated at Hartford Hospital for a single gunshot wound to her back as well as lacerations and contusions. She has subsequently been released from the Hartford Hospital. The second suspect described as a black male, in his early 20’s, 6’3” tall weighing 170 lbs, close cut black hair, light complexion with a scar under his left eye whose nickname is “Scarface”, is still at large.
