Police Data Initiative

The Hartford Police Department has been working with the White House Police Data Initiative (PDI) since the spring of 2016. The primary objective of the Police Data Initiative is to make police data publicly available to build transparency and increase community trust, pursuant to recommendations made by the President's Task Force on 21st Century Policing.

Speaking about the Hartford Police Department's involvement in the PDI, Chief James Rovella remarked:
"The Hartford Police Department welcomes the opportunity to partner with the White House and the Police Data Initiative. We consider the partnership as another stepping stone enhancing transparency and continuing those courageous conversations which Chiefs throughout the country are engaged in with the communities they protect and serve."

With this mindset, the Hartford Police Department would like to invite the public to access some of the actual training materials its officers receive at basic recruit and continuing education training. HPD believes that by reviewing actual training materials provided to members of the Hartford Police Department, a more well-rounded understanding of police operations can be developed.
