Pistol Permits

Prior to applying for a pistol permit, please visit the State of Connecticut’s website regarding eligibility, prerequisites and any updated fees:

Fingerprints can be obtained via Biometric Identification Services. Their hours of operations can be found here:  http://www.bioidentserv.com/

Pistol permit applications for the City of Hartford must be obtained in person from the Records Division located at the Police Department. 

Prior to submitting your application, please have ready:

  • Completed and notarized application, instruction sheet and release form
  • Small passport size color photograph
  • Proof of Citizenship, Birth Certificate (Long Form) and/or Certificate of Naturalization.
  • Three (3) proofs of residency within the City of Hartford
  • Marriage Certificate (If last name changed by marriage)
  • Completed Fingerprint Card
  • NRA Certificate
  • Money Order for $70.00 payable to: City of Hartford
  • Money Order for $12.00 payable to: Treasurer State of Connecticut
  • Money Order for $75.00 payable to: Treasurer State of Connecticut
