On May 11th, 2013 at approximately 1:00am, Patrol Units responded to shots fired in the area of 53 Seyms Street. Citizens in the area reported hearing two gunshots, but couldn't provide any additional information. In April of 2014, detectives for the HPD Shooting Task Force developed information regarding this shooting that had occurred on May of 2013. The shots fired occurred as a result of one male trying to fight several other individuals that were hanging out in the park located on East Street at Seyms Street. An intended victim and shooter were identified. The investigation led to a warrant being applied for the suspected shooter- Steven Echevarria (a convicted felon with a violent history). The warrant was approved on April 30th, 2014. On May 1st, 2014 Echevarria was apprehended during the execution of a narcotics search warrant at 51 Seyms Street.

**During the arrest apprehension and narcotics search warrant execution, Echevarria was also charged with Destruction of Evidence and Interfering with police.
