(Jan 25, 2013 - Hartford, CT.) – Police Chief James C. Rovella announced today that Doel F. Candelario, wanted by Hartford police in connection with the June 20, 2012 shooting death of Jimmy Narvaez-Gonzalez of New Britain, was taken into custody by the Hartford Fugitive Task Force in Lawrence, Massachusetts on January 24, 2013
Candelario is being held in Massachusetts as a fugitive pending extradition to Hartford, Connecticut, where he will be charged with murder 53a-54a, criminal possession of a firearm 53a-217, and unlawful discharge of a firearm 53-203 by Hartford police. Candelario has a judge set bond on these charges of $1,500,000.
On July 20, 2012 at 1:48 a.m. at 601 Broad Street, Hartford, Jimmy Narvaez was shot in the back of the head following a verbal altercation with Candelario. He died a short time later at an area hospital.
Following an intensive investigation detectives from the Hartford Police Department Major Crimes Division applied for and secured an arrest warrant on July 30, 2012, charging Doel Candelario, DOB 04/11/86, with the murder of Narvaez
