Hit and Run - Information Wanted

On September 27, 2015 at 2:32am, Hartford Police Department Patrol Officers responded to 445 Garden St. on a report of a car striking a pedestrian. Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive female in the roadway on the south bound lane of travel. The victim had visible injuries to her head, and lower extremities. The victim was transported to St. Francis hospital, and was listed in critical condition. A witness on scene stated the victim was crossing the road when she was struck by a vehicle, which fled North on Garden Street. Accident reconstructionist from the HPD Crime Scene Division are conducting the investigation.

The suspect vehicle is possibly a white or tan S.U.V.

On September 29, 2015 at approximately 1:23am the victim succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced at St. Francis Hospital.

Trying to Locate Family and Mother

UPDATE:  The mother of 4 year-old Shafyalya Nicks has been found.

On September 28, 2015, at 10:08am, Hartford Police Department Patrol Officers were dispatched to 182 Collins Street on a report of a found 4 year-old girl. Officers learned that a citizen had been driving down the street and noticed the young child wandering alone. Upon further investigation, Patrol Officers identified the address of 150 Collins Street as where the little girl (Shafyalya Nicks age 4) resides. No one was located inside the apartment, but mail revealed that a Shi'day Nicks 22yo, also lives there. According to neighbors, Shi'day Nicks just moved into the apartment building and is not well known by neighbors.

The child was in good health and in the care of CT DCF. However, the Hartford Police Department is trying to locate any family of Shafyalya Nicks. At the same time we are also trying to locate Shi'day Nicks. Shi'day Nicks' previous addresses are Orange Street in Springfield, MA and 23RD St. in Meridian Mississippi.

Photos of the Shafyalya Nicks and Shi'day Nicks are attached. Anyone with information on the whereabouts or family contact for either of these two individuals is asked to contact Sergeant E. D. Road Closures for Fireball Run

Please see the listed road closures for the weekend:

The Fireball Run requires road closures in the City of Hartford two days this weekend. Saturday September 26th consists of a static vehicle display on Trinity Street. As a result, Elm Street will be closed from Pulaski Circle/West St. to Trinity Street and Trinity Street will be closed from Capitol Avenue to the Arch. Both are scheduled to close at 9:00am and reopen at 6:00pm.

For the start, Sunday September 27th, Main Street will be closed from Pearl Street to Capitol Avenue. Road closures will begin at 4:00am and are scheduled to reopen around 11:00am. The HPD Traffic Division will assist Fireball Teams travel from the rally area to Interstate 84 West.
