The Hartford Police Explorers Post 45 competed in the 2015 Riverfront Dragon Boat and Asian Festival in Downtown Hartford on Saturday, August 15. They proved themselves to be a worthy adversary, taking home the gold in the F Group, Division 1 with a time of 2:48.71.
On August 14, 2015, Detectives from The Hartford Police Department Vice and Narcotics Unit along with, the HPD Emergency Response Team, DEA Agents, the Statewide Narcotics Task Force and Northern Connecticut Regional Emergency Service Team conducted two simultaneous search warrants at 56 and 57 Bond Street. Detectives were able to obtain information that there were several individuals storing firearms and selling illegal narcotics from the first floor apartment of 56 Bond Street and the second floor of 57 Bond Street. A search of the apartment's interiors revealed a firearm, marijuana, crack cocaine, U.S. currency and packaging material. A total of five (5) individuals were placed under arrest for various firearm and narcotic related charges.

On August 13, 2015, Detectives from the Hartford Police Depart received information that illegal drugs were being sold from the second floor of 114 Babcock Street. The detectives used an undercover officer to arrange the purchase of a large amount of heroin from the target. Surveillance was established at the 114 Babcock Street and the target was observed leaving the residence and traveling to a prearranged meeting location. Once the target showed the undercover the narcotics he was placed under arrest. While conducting Surveillance Detectives observed a Second male suspect standing in front of 114 Babcock Street attempting to conceal a firearm in his waistband. Detective from Narcotics Unit and South condition officers responded to the area and observed the suspect run into the second floor residence, while attempting to conceal the firearm. This suspect was stopped and located in the kitchen in possession of a fully loaded firearm. Information gathered by several street sources indicated that Ortiz (person in possession of a firearm) was responsible for several shots fired incidents in the area of Babcock Street and Grand Street. Both suspects were placed under arrest for the appropriate charges and transported to booking.
