Update: Stabbing on James Street

On Thursday September 17, 2015, at approximately 9:52pm Hartford Police Department Patrol Officers were dispatched to an apartment at 69 James Street on a report of two people bleeding due to a fight. Upon arrival, Patrol Officers found a bloody scene with Roberto Perales, 55yo, suffering from a severe stab wound to his arm. He was provided first aid and EMS personnel transported him to St. Francis. At 10:35pm the victim was pronounced Deceased.

In the apartment, Patrol Officers also located Jose Colon, 67yo, bleeding from the head. He was transported to St. Francis, treated for non-life-threatening injury, and released into police custody.

Initial investigation is indicating that:
Roberto Perales is the nephew to Jose Colon (uncle). The two were temporarily staying together in an apartment at 69 James Street. This entire incident occurred within said apartment. The two had been consuming alcohol to intoxicating levels. Both engaged in an argument that soon became physical. At some point, Jose Colon went into the kitchen got a knife and stabbed Roberto Perales in the arm. The struggle continued, as Perales then was able gain control of the knife and stab Colon. A witness called police.

On Friday, Colon was released from the Hospital and taken to the Hartford Police Department Major Crimes Division. He was arrested, charged with Murder and given a $1,000,000 bond.

The Hartford Police Department Major Crimes Division continues the investigation.

Victim: Roberto Perales, 55yo, DOB 12/10/1959, of 85 Dwight St, New Britain, CT.

Accused: Jose Colon, 67yo, DOB 1/5/1948, of 69 James Street Hartford, APT. 103 Hartford, CT
Charges: Murder

Narcotics Seizure - Stafford Street

On September 17, 2015, at 11:30 p.m. , Detectives from the Hartford Police Department Vice and Narcotics Unit, along with Statewide Narcotics Task Force and the FBI Task Force received credible information that a large shipment of narcotics was to be delivered in the area of New Britain Avenue and Newfield Street. Surveillance was established and the target vehicle was followed to 61 Stafford Street. The suspect stopped exiting the house and 300 grams (quarter kilogram) of raw heroin was discovered. During the investigation a search of the house was conducted and another 1000 gram (1 kilogram) was recovered. The Heroin had a street value of approximately $80,000.00 dollars. The target suspect was arrested for federal narcotics charges and taken into federal custody.

*Due to the incident remaining an active investigation involving multijurisdictional agencies, the identification of the target suspect arrested is not being released at this time.

Search Warrant Leads to Arrest

On September 17, 2015, at 6:20 p.m. , Hartford Police Department Detectives from the Vice and Narcotics Unit assisted by HPD South Condition Officers executed a search warrant at 224 Putnam Street, 2nd floor apartment. HPD officers were able to obtain credible information that there was an individual packaging and selling illegal narcotics from a 2nd floor apartment. A search of the apartment's interior revealed 1872 bags of Heroin, 6 ounces of marijuana and $880.00 dollars in U.S Currency. The occupant of the residence was placed under arrest for various narcotic charges and transported to the Hartford Police Booking facility for processing.
