The Hartford Police Department and CT Children's Medical Center (CCMC) have started a new 'Patrol Beat' for Hartford Police Officers. It's called "The Toughest Beat". With staff from CCMC, uniformed Hartford Officers will visit CCMC's patients & families on a quarterly basis. The Officers will spend time with children, offer encouraging words and small gifts to help distract them from their time in the hospital. As always, if any of the kids have questions for police officers, the officers will do their best to answer them. The first patrol will be on December 1st, at 1:00pm. Hartford Police Shooting Task Force will take the first assignment.

"There are a lot of beats and patrols areas in the city of Hartford that certainly can be considered tough for a cop. But if you've ever walked through CT Children's Medical Center, you will see some of the toughest children in this world fighting some scary illnesses & diseases. As a police officer, this is a very important place to visit; it leaves a lasting impression. Our hope is to provide some strength, encouragement and positive interaction with these amazingly brave children," Deputy Chief Brian J. Foley.
