Two Incidents within 24 Hours

On Monday, August 31, 2015, at approximately 11:57pm, the Hartford Police Department received several 911 reports of shots fired and a male victim shot at 52-K South Prospect Street. On arrival, a male victim was located suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his upper torso. The victim was subsequently pronounced deceased on scene by the responding paramedics at 12:34am on Sept. 1, 2015. HPD Major Crimes Detectives and Crime Scene Detectives responded and assumed the investigation. The investigation is on-going at this time.

The victim is identified as William Prieto, DOB 1/25/1983 (32) of 52 Prospect Street, Hartford, CT.

On Tuesday, September 1, 2015, Hartford Police Officers were dispatched to 26 Pershing Street on 911 calls of a shot fired and a victim down. Hartford Police Patrol Officers responded and located the victim suffering from a single gunshot wound to the temple. The victim was transported to St. Francis hospital where he was pronounced deceased at 8:36am. HPD Major Crimes Detectives and Crime Scene Detectives responded and assumed the investigation. The investigation is on-going at this time.

The victim has been identified as Desmond Wright, DOB 06/24/83 (32) of 211 West Morning Side Street, Hartford, CT.

1st Day of School in Hartford

Tuesday, August 25, 2015, was the first day of school for most students in the City of Hartford. Deputy Chief Robert Ford, along with prominent members of the community welcomed students back with a corridor of high fives and cheers of encouragement at the Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School on Ridgefield Street.
