Auto Theft Arrest - Tip Based

On December 5, 2014 at 11:26pm, acting on a citizen tip, Hartford Police Department patrol officers and officers from the South Conditions Unit (SCU) responded to the area of 10 Campfield Avenue in response to an active attempted auto theft in progress. As the Officers arrived on scene they observed two parties attempting to steal a car. The two suspects immediately fled the scene on foot engaging police in a foot pursuit. Accused, Juan Perez was apprehended shortly thereafter by SCU officers in the area of 10 Campfield Street. It was determined that the suspects arrived at the location in a previously stolen vehicle, and were attempting to conduct an additional auto theft at the location. The previously stolen vehicle was found to be a recently stolen vehicle from the area of 755 Wethersfield Avenue and not yet been reported to police. Perez was placed under arrest and charged appropriately. The vehicles are consistent with a recent pattern of auto thefts in the South District.
