Mayor Segarra Responds to Governor Malloy’s Proposed Budget for Fiscal Year 2014/15

(February 6, 2014) Today, Mayor Segarra released the following statement regarding Governor Malloy’s budget for fiscal year 2014/15:

"I was pleased with the Governor’s proposed budget, and relieved that there are no cuts that will impact City operations. In fact, the grant opportunities this budget provides for development and manufacturing could help restore Hartford’s legacy as the economic engine in the region.

I also want to acknowledge and thank the Governor for his continued commitment to improving public education, especially early-childhood education. Governor Malloy has consistently increased state education funding, with 92 percent of those resources being directed to the lowest performing schools. For a city like Hartford, making sure kids are prepared for the future is the most important economic investment we can make. Without a world-class education for all our students, progress will never be achieved.”
