City of Hartford Announces First Step Toward Online Permitting System

(March 27, 2014) The City of Hartford’s Development Services Division announced today that it had signed an agreement with Tyler Technology to begin implementing the company’s EnerGov planning, permitting and licensing solution. Once the upgrade is complete, residents and businesses will be able to file and track their applications online.

“I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished with permitting,” said Hartford Mayor Pedro E. Segarra. “A year ago, the chance of you getting a permit within one day was 4% - today it’s 52%. But we need to go further. A new push into online permitting will save money both for citizens and the City by reducing the time and material costs of the permitting process. Users will be able to track the progress of their applications, while more departments will have better access to our permitting records.”

“Streamlining applications and granting of permits will really advance development in this City,” said Thomas Deller, Hartford’s Director of Development Services. “Online permitting not only lowers the cost of doing business in the City substantially, but also sends the message that Hartford is ready for the arrival of the next generation of businesses.”

The new online permitting system is scheduled to be up and running next year.
