CITY OF HARTFORD DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS LAUNCHES ‘HOLIDAY GIVE-BACK’ TO IMPACT 50 HARTFORD FAMILIES

(December 2, 2015) Today, the City’s Department of Public Works and AFSCME Local 1716, announced that they are launching the first ever “Holiday Give-Back,” a holiday drive soliciting new toys, nonperishable food items, toiletries and winter gear, including hats, gloves and scarves for gift baskets that will be delivered to 50 Hartford families. Donations can be dropped off between now and December 18, 2015 at the Park House at Keney Park at 183 Windsor Avenue or at the Public Safety Complex, 50 Jennings Road, 253 High Street in Hartford.

“We are in the community every day through our work and we want to be more involved, we want to give back,” said Kenneth Blue President of AFSCME Local 1716. “Personally, I grew up in the community. I feel blessed and I want others to feel blessed.”

The holiday baskets will be delivered to 50 Hartford families on December 19 at the Kelvin D. Anderson Center on Saturday, December 19 at 10 a.m.  The Holiday Give-Back is sponsored by AFSCME Local 1716, Blue Hills Civic Association, Community Solutions, Friends of Keney Park and The Phoenix Society.
