(April 13, 2012) --- Mayor Pedro E. Segarra today announced that Andrea Comer, Director of Communications and New Media, will be leaving the position to support the City's commitment to education reform.
Comer, who joined the Mayor's office last year, will join Jumoke Academy's leadership team as the charter school embarks upon an expansion plan. In her role as Communications Director, she served as a critical member of the senior management team that assisted the Mayor with the transition into his first full term. Comer previously served on the Hartford Board of Education and was Director of Community Outreach for Achievement First.
"Andrea and I share a passion for education and a desire to improve outcomes for children in Connecticut's Capital City," Segarra said. "I will miss her compassion and energy, but I am thrilled that she will be playing a significant role in powerfully reforming education for Hartford students."
In February, Mayor Segarra appointed himself and four others to the Hartford Board of Education. The decision was driven by a desire to solidify and enhance the advances made by the school district since it began implementing its reform strategy.
Comer's last day will be April 27, 2012.
