MAYOR BRONIN STATEMENT ON JUSTICE MCDONALD’S NOMINATION

HARTFORD,CONN. (March 27, 2018) – Mayor Luke Bronin released the statement below after State Supreme Court Justice Andrew McDonald’s nomination to be Chief Justice was defeated in the State Senate.

“Today, for the first time,Connecticut saw Trump-McConnell-style partisanship take over our judicial nominations process.  Worse than that, this vote was partisan politics mixed with prejudice.  I’ve known Andrew McDonald for almost twenty years, and I cannot think of anyone who would be a better Chief Justice.  There is no question about Justice McDonald’s qualifications.  He is a respected jurist and a sitting member of the Supreme Court, and he has held leadership positions in all three branches of government.”
