MAYOR BRONIN, CHIEF ROSADO STATEMENTS ON STATUS OF INJURED OFFICER

MAYOR BRONIN, CHIEF ROSADO STATEMENTS ON STATUS OF INJURED OFFICER

HARTFORD, CONN (May 17, 2018) – This evening Mayor Luke Bronin and Police Chief David Rosado released the statements below on the status of the Hartford Police Officer injured this morning.

“We are relieved to report that the Hartford Police Officer injured this morning has come out of surgery and has been transferred to the Intensive Care Unit for recovery,” said Mayor Bronin.  “Her condition is critical but stable, and our entire community continues to pray for her and for her family as she begins her recovery.  From the moment after the attack this morning, police officers, dispatchers, first responders, civilians, and medical professionals worked together to quickly get our officer the care she needed.  Their extraordinary and heroic work is the reason she is alive, and on behalf of the City of Hartford I want to express our deep appreciation to each and every one of them.  I want to ask the media and public again to continue to respect the officer’s and her family’s privacy in the days ahead.  When there are further updates as to the officer’s status and the incident itself, we will provide them.”

“Today was a very difficult day for the Hartford Police Department and our thoughts and prayers continue to be with our officer and her family,” said Chief Rosado.  “But we also saw the courage, skill, and dedication of our officers and our public safety team in Hartford, from the dispatchers, to our officers, to first responders, and to the terrific doctors and staff at Hartford Hospital.  We should always remember the risks that members of law enforcement take every day on our behalf and be grateful to them.  I also want to recognize the two civilians who helped bring the altercation to a close – their instinctive heroism helped get our officer to the hospital as quickly as possible.”
