Statement From Mayor Segarra and Fire Chief Casares on Passing of Firefighter William Hunt

City Flags to Fly at Half-Staff Until Conclusion of Funeral Services

(July 13, 2012) --- Mayor Pedro E. Segarra and Hartford Fire Chief Edward Casares, Jr. today announced that Firefighter William A. Hunt, 50, died this morning at home in Glastonbury, Connecticut.  Firefighter Hunt was an 18-year veteran of the Hartford Fire Department, who also served in the US Navy, was presently assigned to Engine 2/Tour A.  He was a proud father of two daughters and was engaged to be married.

Billy was a tremendous asset to the Hartford Fire Department and will be missed by so many.

The Hartford Fire Department is deeply saddened at the sudden loss and has extended their support to the Hunt family during this very difficult time.  Information regarding funeral services will be released soon.

Mayor Segarra also ordered all City of Hartford flags to fly at half-staff until the conclusion of Firefighter Hunt's funeral services.
