(June 25, 2013) – With temperatures expected to be into the 90's today and tomorrow, City officials have ordered the opening of four cooling centers in the City of Hartford. Members of the Hartford Fire Department’s Special Services Unit will be disseminating water bottles on site. An air quality alert will also be in effect for the Hartford area due to high levels of ozone in the air. Residents are encouraged to take proper precautions including limiting outside activities, staying hydrated, wearing loose fitting clothing and taking time to check on neighbors, and friends who might be homebound.
