(August 2, 2013) — Starting tonight, August 2, Newfield Avenue will be closed from Flatbush Avenue to Charter Oak Marketplace Drive, in order to accommodate construction for Stage 2 of CTfastrak’s Flatbush Avenue reconstruction project.
For approximately the next eleven weeks, all Newfield Avenue traffic between Flatbush and Charter Oak Marketplace will be detoured onto Charter Oak Marketplace Drive. After that, Newfield will reopen, and Flatbush Avenue will be closed for approximately three weeks. The Flatbush Avenue bridge is scheduled to open by Thanksgiving.
CTfastrak has notified the property owners and businesses in the affected area, and City police, fire, and emergency services, as well as other first responders, are aware of the closure and new traffic pattern. In an effort to reduce congestion associated with the detour, residents are encouraged to consider alternate routes to Newfield Avenue, especially during peak drive times.
