City of Hartford Department of Public Works Releases Two Traffic Advisories

For Summit and South Whitney Street Excavations

(July 3, 2012) --- On Monday, July 9th through Friday, July 13th, South Whitney Street (near Park Street) will be reduced to one lane while contractors for Northeast Utilities perform street excavation work. The road is expected to be open for vehicles with Traffic Control Officers in place. Work will begin at 9AM and is expected to be completed by 3PM daily. Hartford Police Officers will be on site to ensure vehicular and pedestrian safety.

Goodwin Park Pool Closed Due to Motor Vehicle Accident

(June 30, 2012) --- The Departments of Children, Families, Youth & Recreation and Public Works announced this morning that at or around 4:30AM this morning a stolen motor vehicle crashed through the fence at Goodwin Park and was found partially submerged in the pool.  The pool has been closed until further notice.  If a determination is made that the water has been contaminated, there is a possibility that it may be closed for an extended period of time.

As additional information is received, it will be released to the public and media.

City of Hartford to Distribute Water at Community Pools this Weekend

(June 29, 2012) --- As temperatures are expected to reach the low- to mid-90's this weekend, the Department of Families, Children, Youth & Recreation, in conjunction with the Hartford Fire Department and Health & Human Services, will be distributing bottled water at the 4 community pools this weekend (both Saturday and Sunday)

Mayor Segarra & City of Hartford Mourn Death & Celebrate Life of Alan E. Green

Accomplished Hartford Native and Former Executive Director of Hartford Housing Authority

(June 22, 2012) --- Mayor Pedro E. Hartford today announced that Alan E. Green, a long-time friend and former Executive Director of the Hartford Housing Authority ("Authority"), has died.  Alan resigned from the Authority just four months ago for health reasons.
