REFUSE COLLECTION LETTER

Dear Refuse Collector:

Your company has been identified as actively providing waste and recycling collection services to residences and businesses within the City of Hartford.

The City of Hartford adopted a municipal refuse collector registration ordinance in March, 2009.  It requires all collectors to complete a registration form and submit it to the Department of Public Works (DPW) with specific documentation and fees in order for your company to continue to offer trash collection and hauling services within the City of Hartford.  You are required to register every vehicle used in Hartford for waste and recycling collection by October 30, 2009.

Attached please find a copy of the registration form. You may also find a copy at www.hartford.gov along with the Municipal Code, Section 15, which details registration requirements.

Upon receipt of all the registration documents, permit tags will be issued by DPW for fiscal year 09-10. These must be placed on the left windshield of each vehicle.

The registration packet and fee should be sent to Mr.  Jose Carrasco at City of Hartford, Department of Public Works, 525 Main Street, Hartford, CT 06103 by October 30, 2009.  In conjunction with CRRA, the City of Hartford will initiate an inspection program to insure compliance with refuse collector registration after the registration deadline.

DPW also reminds collectors that they are required to comply with the city’s Noise Ordinance, Section 23 of the Municipal Code, that can also be found on Hartford’s webpage www.hartford.gov
