The mission of the Assessment Division is to estimate the fair market value of all real property, personal property, and motor vehicles, to establish the fair and equitable levy of local property tax. The Assessor is the local government official responsible for establishing the fair market value of all real property, personal property and motor vehicles for local property tax purposes. Property is assessed in each town as of the October 1st assessment date, pursuant to Connecticut General Statute ยง12-62a. The City implemented a revaluation for the October 1, 2011 Grand List.



PERSONAL PROPERTY HARTFORD: All owners of tangible personal property in the City of Hartford except Connecticut registered motor vehicles are required by statue to file a listing of such property annually with the Assessor. Filing is required on or before Monday, November 2, 2015. This property includes machinery, equipment, furniture and fixtures, etc. used in a business. Failure to file: Section 12-42 of CGS requires the Assessor to file a listing for those who fail to file, and to add a 25% penalty to the listings for all those who do not file or file late.
