Fire Marshal's Office

The goal of the Fire Prevention Division is to prevent and minimize the loss of life and property from fire and other emergencies through comprehensive inspection/code enforcement, engineering and origin and cause investigations that will effectively fulfill the mission of the Hartford Fire Department. 

To accomplish our goal, the Fire Prevention Division is led by a Fire Marshal, a Deputy Chief who serves as the City’s Fire Marshal and oversees the Fire Prevention Program.  The Division is comprised of two (2) units, the Fire Inspection Unit and Fire Investigation Unit.  Each unit is supervised by a Captain who oversees six (6)Lieutenant in the providing the following services: 

  • Inspections/Code Enforcement
  • Engineering/Plan Review 
  • Fire Origin and Cause Investigation
